I'm amazed that this sitdown restaurant quality Korean fusion is found in a mall food court! The prices are less or competitive to Ono Hawaiian, but then serving sizes, quality and presentation is hands down so much better. The lunch box servings are dinner portions, beautifully presented in a custom ergonomic design. The bento box is a secure traveler, with the black sectioned container so that everything stays separate, and sits in a finished cardboard frame with a clear cover, and a finished glossy paper band to firmly hold it together the container and the generous portions. It would be perfect for a catered business or celebration lunch gathering. And the food tasted great! The people who took and packed our to go order were friendly, helpful and welcoming. I'm looking forward to my next meal at Don Katsu at the Montebello Mall of Shops!

On a Saturday morning in late March, my sister and I came here for early lunch at 10am. We decided to check out the new katsu place in the Montebello mall food court. The owner seems nice and took our pork loin special plate and $3 on Jamaica juice. We didn't wait too for our good. The katsu was not oily and nicely fried with scoop of rice, cabbage salad, macaroni salad, small kimchi container and dipping sauce. I got really full and I couldn't finish finished my rice and kimchi. The macaroni salad was average mixed with dill and lemons. Plenty of tables to sit and cleaned at 10am.

Tucked away in the Montebello Shops is a true hidden gem that does Korean Asian fusion but with a twist. The cross-section of their sloppy don sando goes crazyyy and actually has bits of mango. Never thought about this combo before, but hey, it works! I'm a sucker for their GIANT bento box's pretty packaging, and you gotta try the cheese katsu with it! And I absolutely loooved the sweet chili shrimp bowl which is like their take on Hawaiian spicy shrimp. Thanks for reading! ^-^

Wow I am surprised this spot is situated in a mall's food court. I'm surprised because the katsu was so delicious. This place is really a hidden gem. I wouldn't have come across this place if it wasn't for yelp. The breading they use gives it such a good crunch and crispness. I really enjoyed it a lot. Their sauce was really good too, has a good sesame/ nutty taste to it. Their cold slaw & rice were paired really well with the pork katsu. $11-12 for a mini meal wasn't bad. Great service! Out of all the selections at the food court I would definitely give this place a try! Everything else was more like fast food and heavier. This was an enjoyable meal.

Came back to give this another try since the last time I visited they were still in soft opening. First off, I saw that they had many new items on the menu. This time I gave the new items a try. Cheesy Don Katsu - Absolutely cheesy deliciousness. It's a solid bento box and if you like cheese you'll probably love this. Good flavors and had a solid selection of sides. (5/5) Kbbq Chicken Ricebowl - This is far from Korean bbq chicken. This is more like a kung pao chicken so it is a bit deceiving. It's overall tasted good but I don't think it was that special. I wouldn't get this again and I feel the name should be changed or the recipe revised. (3/5) Overall still a solid place to get good at the Montebello Mall. I would stick to the Don Katsu for this restaurants, the other items are more of a pass IMO.

I was craving katsu and in the montebello area so I decided to give this place a try. I got the regular katsu sando($14.50) which satiated my craving for donkatsu. I loved how the katsu was super thin and it had a light crispy breading which was perfect. I wish there was more katsu/pork itself in the sandwich since the pork was super thin. I personally wasn't a big fan of the bread because it got super soggy with the coleslaw but also it's honestly just not my favorite bread. It reminded me of torta bread but I prefer milk bread in general. Overall I would definitely come back and try their katsu plate!

Great food. I've only tried the chicken katsu and it was delicious. The chicken was juicy and not dry. The sauce for the chicken tasted great and the pickle jalapeños has mild sweet taste that I enjoyed. The macaroni salad had dill which surprised me at first bc I wasn't not expecting the dill taste, but it grew on me. Try out this place out. Also, their speciality drinks were delicious and were not overly sweet.

I was surprised to see a Korean fast-food restaurant in a food court but I think it's a great addition and mix-up from the classic options that you see, especially since the quality was great. I ordered a spicy chicken donkatsu sandwich for myself which was handcrafted and assembled on a crispy torta. If you're a spice lover, I highly recommend paying the extra dollar for it since they don't mess with their spice. The meat was firm but it was balanced out by the creamy coleslaw which I loved. I also tried some of the signature donkatsu lunchbox, which came with rice and sides of salad, macaroni salad, and kimchi. The size of the pork was huge but very thin which made it even crispier with the breading. The food is made to order and comes out relatively quickly and in nice packaging too.
